Meet Sarah Cameron, Dipl. Ac, L.Ac, LMT
Sarah is an intuitive practitioner of Classical Chinese acupuncture and massage therapy who has been gifted with the sense of touch and an ability to see with her hands. She has spent many years passionately researching the vastly interconnecting body-mind-spirit complex.
Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts degree from London Conservatory of Dance at The University of Kent and graduated with Honors. She also studied Psychology at Sarah Lawrence, dance at Purchase Dance Conservatory and University of Texas in Austin.
She worked as a professional modern dancer with choreographers in Europe such as SmallPetitKlein and Jonathan Lun, before she returned to New York City. In New York City, she danced with Astrid Von Ussar dance company, Anna Sperber Dance Company, and EyeKnee Coordination. Although she stopped pursuing her career in dance due to a hip injury, she still occasionally participates in performances, classes, workshops and residencies and recently had the opportunity to go to Norway with EyeKnee Coordination for a collaborative artist's residency that focused on creating work for younger audiences.
I came to Sarah after purchasing a package. I expected the sessions to be rushed and impersonal because I had received a discount. It was the exact opposite; Sarah is truly committed to getting all of the information about whatever you are treating, and is very compassionate as well. She was able to help me tremendously. She also talked me through a nervous breakdown when I was having a particularly bad day. I can’t imagine going to anyone else for acupuncture, she is the gold standard as far as I am concerned.- Stephanie S., R.N.
Experience & Compassion
Sarah graduated from The Swedish Institute with An Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy and became a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist. She has been practicing for 12+ years and has worked in a number of different settings including spas, rehabilitative clinics, hospices, private homes, out patient care facilities. This has given her the opportunity to provide a wide range of care to people at different stages of life and helped her to develop her own technique that pulls from Eastern and Western systems, techniques, and approaches but has become very much her own intuitive approach.
Sarah graduated with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture from the Swedish Institute where she had the honor of studying Classical Chinese Medicine with Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist Priest who is recognized internationally to be a Master of Classical Chinese Medicine, Taoism, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Tai Ji Chuan, and Qi Gong.
The ongoing study of Chinese Medicine and the Taoist philosophy that it is founded upon, transformed Sarah's life. The medicine is alive in every respect, a living breathing system based, not on cause and effect, but on energetic dynamics that exist within relationships. As Sarah began to shift her perspective and identify the patterns of her own behavior that create energetic imbalances versus those which nourish, restore, and empower, she had her own deep healing experience. It is through her journey and the significant impact it has had on her life, that she now devotes her time to what has become a highly personalized practice. Her practice allows her to share what she has discovered and guide her patients on their own unique journey towards reconnecting the mind-body-spirit complex. This sacred and fascinating complex has unlimited innate healing capacities that go unexplored due to the western mentality that pain is intolerable and should be silenced. Pain is the sound the mind, body, and spirit make in an attempt to find realignment. When in alignment, healing capacity is unlimited, blockages and obstacles dissolve, and the harmonious flow of the internal rivers and channels can be restored back to a vibrant state of being.
Ms. Cameron was incredibly attuned to the specifics of my ailments but also was simultaneously managing the big picture. As opposed to other treatments, Ms. Cameron constantly seeks new ways to approach each angle of my care. She is serious, focused, immensely learned and talented. I feel a tremendous confidence in her ability to treat me and emphatically offer my highest recommendation.- Serge J-F. Levy. 37. Artist/Photographer.
Aside from the previously mentioned education and training, Sarah also had the honor of studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China at the Beijing University where she had the opportunity to experience what it was like to work in a number of the hospitals there. She has been a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist since 2005, a Diplomat of Acupuncture and a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist since 2010. She studied Herbs at Tri-State College of Acupuncture, Hara Diagnosis and Kampo with Nigel Dawes. She is certified by Acupuncturists without Borders to practice Healing Community Trauma. She is certified in Medical Massage. And has continued her ongoing education with Jeffrey Yuen, Lonny Jarrett, Ann Cecil-Sternum, and Dr. Sheila George.
